Week 3 Assignment (Video Clip)

http://www.inspiration.com/videos/Inspiration

This video was very informative, it slowed down the processes involved within the Inspiration Software. I thought it was extremely useful within a classroom. Teachers would be able to create diagrams, graphs, slide shows, etc. The program seems easy to use in any setting. "The powerful diagram and map views support a full range of visual educational methodology". Its great for brainstorming, useful when wanting to involve the class. the bright colors, images, and editing characters will make it an ease for your student to focus on the given material.

I think that within a classroom simple reading and writing exercises found on online educational databases, computer programs, and textbook websites would help students comprehension immensely. For example, have a student create a story using key words from any given subject area. After a rough draft is completed, allow the student to type the story using a educational program (age appropriate). Like the Inspiring Software, the student should be able to create pictures along with his/her words. to involved other students, have them work in pairs of two. Let them develop a story together and create the final copy with illustrations using technology. This will not only allow them to be creative but also further their understanding of computers, spell checks, image editing and so far.

As a teacher i believe we need to be able to fulling explain the subject matter to our students. I don't ever recall teaching something i didn't think i had a good grasp on. If the students were to ask something i didn't have the answer to in regards to the material, I'd feel extremely "unworthy".

  1. You are so true I liked how they slowed down and went through each little process and showed us exactly what the Inspiration Software has to offer us and how to use it. I was a little concerned at first but after I got to looking at it closer I realize that it would be very beneficial for the agricultural industry in showing alot of data they we have collect but don't know how to present it. I agree that you need to have a full grasp on the subject your teaching but in my experiences I don't seem to ever fully learn it until I have taught it to an actual class.

  2. I agree with you the Inspiration Software is extremely useful in classrooms. This helps especially when writing papers, students are able to brainstorm ideas before actually starting to write. I know that most students, me included, skip the brainstorm process and just start to write, but with this Software students might actually brainstorm. This might make starting a paper easier. I do agree with you that as teachers we should be able to answer a students questions and that we should have a full grasp on the subject we teach, but I have found that I understand a particular subject more after I have taught it than I do when it is being taught to me. I don't believe that I'd feel "unworthy" if I couldn't answer a question because I have had teachers before say that they don't know everything. They are willing to find the answer for the student. This shows that even teachers are human and are willing to continue learning. That is the type of teacher I want to be, I might not know all the answers, but I will answer the questions given to me with the best of my abilities.

  3. I really agree with April about "Teachers dont know everything." I can't answer all questions students ask sometimes.

I think we learn new things from students' questions.
